My shower was supposed to be a surprise. Because the only thing I requested for my shower was that it be a surprise. And then I immediately spent the next year trying to figure out when my shower would be!
I was fairly convinced that it was going to be Saturday. But then, I got an invite to my uncle's surprise birthday party scheduled for Sunday...now, my uncle's birthday is in November. So I naturally assumed that this would be my shower.
Of course, this didn't stop me from trying to figure out if it was actually going to be Saturday. They had me so confused. By the time we were driving to the shower, I had no idea what was going to happen.
Which led to this reaction when I walked in to the restaurant.
Of course, I'd just seen my maid of honor's husband's car in the parking lot. So I was walking in slightly prepared. And I'm so happy that I was! I was flustered and confused enough even though I'd seen the car. If I hadn't, I think I'd have totally lost my mind!
There was just so much to take in! All the people! And all the craftiness!

My girls did an amazing job at making the shower super personal. They even included a scrapbook station for the guests! Each guest took one of the pre-made pages and added stickers and journaling. Then, our photographer (aka. my maid of honor Liz's awesome husband) took a picture of them in front of the photo wall. Liz is going to add the pictures to each page, and create a scrapbook - along with pages made by each of my bridesmaids and some pages about the shower as well!
I think the photo backdrop really made for beautiful pictures. It was such a fun idea, and made sure that we got pictures of everyone at the shower!
Pictures: Bridesmaid Alison, Bridesmaid Sarah, me and Matron of Honor Liz ~ AJ and I ~ My mom and her mom (my Nonni) ~ All of the ladies on my mom's side of the family (There were a lot more people at the shower, but I know these ladies have appeared on the blog before and I forgot to get anyone else's permission to post their pictures here!)
After we all took pictures, we ate. And ate and ate and ate!
Pictures: French onion soup ~ Roasted chicken ~ Shrimp pappardelle ~ Flourless chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream
The food at Market Bistro was delicious! And they included two of my favorites - french onion soup and flourless chocolate cake!
Okay wow! That was a lot of information for one day!
I'll be back tomorrow with some super crafty shower gifts and some fabulous Etsy shops :)

How exciting! I didn't think showers were a surprise anymore! (it seems like everybody knows these days!). It's great that you wanted to be surprised and then tried figuring out what it would be and they got you! :) Well sort of! You looked beautiful and the shower looked amazing, especially the food and all of the sweet scrapbook pages..that's so you!
I so love how they added a scrapbook station for all the guest, that definitely makes it "so you"!! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥
Katie, it looks like it was a wonderful shower and that a lot of love went into it. Seems like your friends must be just as crafty as you are. Can't wait to see more. And I ditto Heather - you look beautiful!
So much fun!!! And you look adorable. Too funny that yhey were at least able to trick you a little :) I rember one of my baby showers was a complete surprise. My husband was pretty pleased about that. In fact, at our Lamaze class that morning when the teacher asked if any of us were having showers that day I said no with complete confidence lol
Wow, this was just the most awesome thing ever for you! They did such a great job planning this! It has Katie written all over it! I'm so excited and happy for you and AJ!!!!
