Every Day Summer Photo Ideas {Project Life}

The past few years, I've created a list of things that I wanted to do in the summer.

But sometimes, being at home every day without much change, I can't think of different things to photograph. I feel like my Project Life pages can get a little boring with the same things over and over. Although I also think that's kind of the point of documenting our everyday lives - seeing the same things over and over because we live them over and over.

But still, I like some variety, so I came up with a list of things that would be perfect to document for summer, especially for Project Life.

What are your essentials to document over the summer?

snap.scrap.share {May 2014}

Happy Thursday!

This has been a crazy week around here. We expected it to be crazy with Confirmation rehearsal on Sunday, Confirmation on Monday, my birthday on Wednesday and a few other appointments scattered in between.

But we didn't expect a fainting spell at church + emergency room visit. Fortunately, everything is okay. And no, I'm not pregnant ;) I never knew until Monday that fainting unexpectedly must mean that! But we got lots and lots and lots of questions, and some undeserved congratulations!

Unfortunately, being out late Sunday + Monday + Wednesday meant sleep deprivation and everything this week was put on the back burner - actually cooking dinner, crafting, blogging, almost my birthday dinner (but fortunately not!).

But I am back with a post at Julie's about creating your own watermarks.

And I will be back tomorrow with a Project Life layout to share. Hopefully next week will calm down and I will be back on track :)

Day in the Life {2014}

Happy Thursday!

I'm really excited about today - I will be playing along with Ali Edward's Day in the Life! This is one of my favorite projects all year long, and always ends up with me looking forward to Week in the Life (starting September 8 this year).

But for now, its just about today. I'll be sharing on Instagram all day {you can see those pictures here}

I'm thinking this year I will add my photos as an insert in Project Life...or maybe a separate traditional layout...obviously I haven't thought it out yet!

Are you playing along today? Let me know in the comments where you will be sharing your pictures - I'd love to check them out :)

snap.scrap.share {April 2014}

Happy Weekend Eve!

Today I'm over at Julie's sharing my photo organization system.

And in honor of Julie's new blog design, we've changed up a few things about my posts there. They will still be the third Thursday of the month, and still be about scrapbooking and crafting. But they have a new name and a new button!

I'm so excited about it! So today I'll be there, and tomorrow I will be back with a Project Life layout :)

The Gap {Wedding Recaps}

Like most church ceremony brides, we had a big gap between our ceremony and our reception.

So you know we were going to use that time to take lots and lots of pictures!

I loved our venue's front yard... I guess you would call it a yard? It had lots of grass and flowers and a gazebo.

But of course, I had to have another photograph site too! So we decided to stop at a park that was on the way to the venue too!

Photo Credit: Ruby Star Photography
Taking pictures at the park turned out to be so much fun! There were tons of families and kids playing, soaking up the extra warm for New York in the fall weather. It was fun to have so many people telling us congratulations while we were taking pictures!

But we didn't stay at the park too long, because we were meeting up with our families to take pictures at the venue at 6.

We also took lots of couples pictures... And I cannot choose a favorite!

Which one do you think we should use for our big picture in the house? I just can't decide!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday {12.08.2013}

Happy Sunday!

This weekend just flew by! Yesterday, we spent the day shopping for our church's ornament tree, wrapping the presents and watching Christmas movies.

Today, we've just been lazy! Its rainy and gross out, so AJ is watching football, and I'm just getting around to posting my scavenger hunt and baking bread for lunches this week.

But, its better late than never, and I really do love rainy, lazy Sundays, so its all okay!

Where I Stood
Or really, where I sat, wrapping gifts in front of the tree. We had exactly enough wrapping paper for everything we bought! If you don't include this gigantic box that got just a ribbon because it was too big for the size of paper that we had!

Silver
On our tree.

Tiny
I love this teeny tiny little ornament. The little ducks are just so cute. I have no idea where this came from, we've had it ever since I was little.

In the Cupboard
In December we add the Spode dishes to the cabinet. I love using these dishes at Christmas time - they make every dinner a little more special!

Shadow
When my family was in over Thanksgiving, my mom bought us this Christmas tree garland. This morning, we noticed that it makes a pretty shadow on the wall! Perfect for Scavenger Hunt Sunday!

Well, I have to go finish baking the bread, because the dough is almost risen now :) Have a great rest of the weekend!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday {12.01.2013}

I cannot believe that it is December.

Already!

How did that happen? Just yesterday it was Thanksgiving. Well, almost literally. Thanksgiving was super late this year, it totally threw me off!

We had a great Thanksgiving week though. My parents flew in, and we spent a few days in New Orleans, a few days here in Baton Rouge and a nice quiet, relaxing Thanksgiving Day in our apartment!

And now its already December, and Sunday, and time for the Scavenger Hunt!

Starts with S
Visiting the State Capitol Building. I didn't even know that you could go in there! But my dad figured out that you could, and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas!

Texture
Bubbly, crumbly apple pie for our make shift pie bar!

A Blessing
I am so blessed that my husband and my parents get along so well - no in law drama here! This is my dad teaching AJ how to carve a turkey (and discovering that despite the breast being cooked exactly to the perfect temperature, the dark meat needed to go back into the oven for a bit!)

Warmth
We had our Christmas lights up by noon on Friday. We also had the tree up before breakfast. Because we are those people. And I am totally okay with it!

I Went
To the National WWII Museum. We ended up spending all day there, the museum was very thought provoking, and made me extremely grateful for everyone involved in our military and keeping our country safe. I highly recommend visiting the museum if you are going to be in New Orleans!

Well, I'm off to catch up on Christmas wrapping, cleaning and all of the other things that took a back seat to family time this week!

Honeymoon Recap {Sandals Emerald Bay, Great Exuma, Bahamas}

Happy Wednesday everyone!

It is so exciting to be back here on the blog!

Yesterday, I shared a mini wedding recap.

Today, I thought I'd share a few pictures from our honeymoon!

After our St. Lucia vacation last year, we decided to book another Sandals resort for our honeymoon. This time, we picked the Sandals Emerald Bay in the Bahamas. I am so so glad that we did! It was even better than the resort we went to in St. Lucia, and we loved that we decided to go for 10 days instead of seven!

We spent most of our days hanging out at the pool.

Or on the beach.

And at night, we got all dressed up for dinner.

We ate and drank and ate some more! (PS. That middle picture isn't photoshopped or anything at all! The bartenders noticed that I was taking pictures of my martini, so they decided to show us something a little more fun to photograph - flaming sambuca!)

We left the resort to explore the island and go to Chat n Chill. I got to feed an actual stingray from the ocean and AJ loved their fresh conch salad (seriously, we watched the guy pull the conch up from the water and filet it right in front of us!)

We walked the golf course, saw a junkanoo band, played shuffle board, pool, croquet and bocce, and enjoyed the pretty views everywhere we looked!

And after 10 days, we were ready to come home and start our new lives as a married couple!

Okay, not exactly "ready", because really, who wants to leave the beach and the pool and eating out every single day to go back to work...

But we've been back for a week now, and we are both getting back into the swing of things here. Of course, my favorite part has been being able to talk/text/email people again (roaming + internet not working = no outside world contact for us!) and shopping at Target again!

What is your favorite part about coming home after a long vacation?

Scavenger Hunt Sunday {09.15.2013}

Oh my goodness! I'm actually posting on a Sunday!

I loved the fall theme to this week's scavenger hunt!

Enjoy a Pumpkin Drink
I don't drink coffee, so it seems that unless I want a beer, I get left out of the pumpkin flavored goodness! Until I saw this tea at Target. I love it, and I just went back yesterday to get another box before it is all gone!

Read a Book
Elementary Principals of Chemical Processes anyone? Maybe you prefer Business Law and the Legal Environment?

AJ kept all of his technical textbooks from college. They just sit on our book shelf with all of our "regular" books.

Bake Something Sweet
Apple Cheddar Muffins. So yum. They are a little bit sweet and a little bit savory, and oh so good. I'm having one of these for lunch today, with an actual apple :)

Animal
At Target last week, if you bought 4 Halloween cards, you got an adorable little bat for free. You know I couldn't pass that up! He is just so cute, and ready for me to put out the Halloween decorations!

Get Artsy
A little peek into my Project Life box.

Well, that's it for me :) Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday {09.08.2013}

Oh man guys. I had a great time visiting Julie in Texas. We took tons of pictures, and I so wanted to get this post up as soon as I got home. But after I got home yesterday, I completely crashed - super long nap on the couch followed by a super early bed time and work today.

So, this is going to be a Scavenger Hunt Monday instead, featuring Labor Day + Dallas :)

Labor Day
Breakfast on the beach. This was my number one request when we went home (and is every time we go out east) I love sitting by the water to start off my morning!

Phone Call
Wait? People still make phone calls? I thought we just texted now ;)

Pill(s)
Yep, I got nothing for this one. But, I do have this picture from Texas! Dr. Pepper made with real sugar...yum!

Up Close
I loved this guy. It was like he was posing for the picture. Although I wasn't as close as I seem thanks to my extra big camera lens!

White Space
Waiting and waiting and waiting for our plane on Labor Day. And watching all of the other planes come and go.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday {09.01.2013}

Happy Labor Day everyone!

I was planning on writing this post from the airport...but now our flight is super super delayed, so I'm writing it from home before we head to the airport!

We had a nice weekend at home - we made crafts for the wedding, had a wine tasting, enjoyed a few new restaurants, and mostly just relaxed with family!

During our trek walk to a local vineyard, I kept stopping everyone to talk my photos for this week!

Down
The boys wanted to take a "shortcut" down the train tracks to get home - but the girls nixed that very dangerous idea!

Shadow
At the winery. I always love all of the extra barrels. I want to make one into a table...but I have no where to put it!

Flow
The wine definitely did flow on this trip...which is pretty typical when we are out by the vineyards!

Tip
My brother (in the gray) is called "Tip" by all his friends. Although we still call him Tom at home!

Beyond
Beyond the birch trees is an organic farm. Last year, they had watermelons planted in that field. I'm not sure what was there this year!

I hope you had a restful weekend! I'm hoping we get home sooner rather than later, but who knows! Depending on our flights, I'll either be back here tomorrow or Wednesday with a wedding shower mini book :)

Scavenger Hunt Sunday {08.25.2012}

Happy Sunday!

Do I really have to go back to work tomorrow? This weekend flew by way too quickly. Probably because I was out very late last night chaperoning the high school dance. At least there was a very large candy buffet :)

But still...I could so use one more day of weekend. I'm so happy its only a four day week this week!

All of my photos this week came from my phone. Although next week my goal is to actually take out my camera and take all of my pictures that way!

Back to School
We're back! Well, we've been back for a few weeks now.

Writing Utensil
Pens. Lots and lots of pens!

Favorite Subject
Science. I guess I kind of have to say that because I teach science. A lot of science!

Lunch
Mushroom pizza. Yum! This was actually dinner. Although I did have this baked potato soup for lunch every day for almost a week. Yep, it makes that much soup...

Recreation
AJ joined a bowling league recently, so we've been spending a lot of time at the bowling alley practicing. He is very good. I am not very good. But its still fun!

In fact, we are headed out now, and on our list is a few games of bowling! So I better run and get ready before we are late! Hope you are having a great weekend :)

Scavenger Hunt Sunday {08.04.20313}

Today is the first day of school. In August. Not even late August. Right here in the really early part of August. My favorite summer month.

I am sad that summer is over. But I'm kind of glad to be getting back into a routine again.

You'd think in summer I'd have more time to scrapbook, and clean, and cook, and blog and all of the other things that I love (well, I don't love the cleaning, but it has to be done). But somehow, I end up not doing all of those things. I end up watching way too many episodes of Boy Meets World and going to Target all day long. No seriously, it took me almost two hours to grocery shop last week. That should be a 45 minute chore, door to door, tops.

Okay, now I'm rambling! On to the photos before I un-convince myself that I'm okay with school starting today!

Body Part
Hanging out with AJ at the driving range. It amazes me how he (and all golfers, really) twist their ankles all around and don't hurt their ankles (normally!)

Wednesday
The only picture I took on Wednesday. During my two hour trip to Target. Apparently "the rewards of being picky" are that there are no cherry tomatoes left at the store!

Music
Water. This little river feeds into the sound (just around the little bend). The water over the rocks is summer music to me.

Guess What
You can see what it is here :)

Mirror Image
The mirror was dirty...but we can just ignore that! I did clean it after this picture. But forgot to retake the picture!

Well, I'm off to the first day of school, then I'll be getting back into my normal routine. Which includes blogging after school! Yay! I missed blogging and all my bloggy friends :)
