Wow! This project went from an idea to done very quickly! I bought the letters Sunday, painted the base Tuesday night and painted the embellishments on last night. By midnight, I had a pretty new decoration on my window.
Originally, I wanted to do stripes and polka dots, but then I thought hearts would be a fun change for the dots. But I there was no way I was free handing those hearts, so I went looking around the apartment for some supplies!
I took strips of the painters tape (left over from when we painted the living room) and adhered it to the wax side of the wax paper (which was just in my kitchen). Then, I punched out the hearts (with a Martha Stewart punch) - the tape didn't stick to the punch because of the wax paper. I cut the negatives of the punches out, peeled them off of the wax paper, and adhered them to the letters. Then I painted over them. (Sorry about the sideways picture!)
After a few touch ups...
I might add thin white stripes in the middle of the light blue ones, and little white dots on the heart letters, but then again, I might not. I'm not sure which way I want to go with it. I'm afraid to do too much!
But I am loving how this looks. I can't wait to see it in the morning against the sunlight!

I think they turned out great! I "LOVE" that they aren't the traditional red and pink for Valentine's day. :)
