We found this pumpkin cupcake candle during our last Home Goods visit. I absolutely love how yummy it smells! But I didn't love the packaging. It was a little too yellow, and not enough orange.
So I decided to break out some of my favorite orange scrapbook paper, and a star punch I got in the sale bin at Michaels and make a new covering for the candle!
It was so easy. I just wrapped the paper around the candle and secured it with glue dots. Done. And now I have a pretty star candle!
And just a gratitous shot of my favorite fall decoration right now. My candle sits on the same table as the "Happy Harvest" sign (also from Michaels!)
This has been another crazy week! Tomorrow, I am leaving for an overnight trip with my students. In the woods. I am not an "in the woods" kind of person. I prefer "in the hotel". But I will be in the woods, with 4 other teachers and 50 high school seniors! Wish me luck :)

oh my golly i am totally NOT an outdoor sleeper-- YIKES!!!
your candle and decorations are just awesome!! I am working on my fall banner tonight and hopefully it will be done by the weekend to hang!! I can't wait!
Very cute!
Michael's really does have some great decorations.
My son likes to go there at Halloween time because he has been collecting their Halloween village pieces for ages :)
It's become a tradition for us.
Good luck with the overnight trip! Not an outdoors sleeping kind of person either!
This candle is super cute. Is this outdoor school?Sleeping in cabins? I did this years ago and had a ball! I got plastic ants, sprinkled them in teachers bed, cereal, etc. SO funny and fun! Also got a wind up mouse to scoot across the floor we had the kids down and adult time in our cabin!
Good Luck!!!! I hope it all goes well!!! And that it's not too cold!!
I love the slipcover you made for the jar candle! It looks so cute. That Happy Harvest sign is adorable too. I really need to get my fall stuff OUT!!
I love that altered candle-love, love, love!
Um, I don't sleep outside ever. I'll be thinking about you. I make my husband do the outdoor stuff. LOL. :)
That candle is the cutest thing ever! How smart :) I hope everything goes okay "in the woods". I've slept in the woods a time or two, but always when I was a kid. Now, I'm definitely a hotel person :)
Your candle is beautiful. I am sure it smells great as well.
My Ashley is really liking the pumpkin candle scent as well.
Good luck with your overnight visit in the woods, teehee. Watch out for bears wolves and field mice, teehee.
You need to check out my blog ;) You will be glad you did:)
Great candle over haul Katie...Have fun in the woods. I tend to like flush toilets myself LOL!
You're spending the night in the woods, as in sleeping on the ground in a sleeping bag?? Ugh, not for me either, give me a bed, indoor toilet and tv/internet anyday of the week! lol Do love what you did to the candle, goes to show that we don't have to accept their packaging and can make it fabulous! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
