Sandee, from In the Hills of North Carolina, reminded me about her Project Pinterest link up. So of course you know I had to join in!
This is actually my second attempt at making this pin.
On my first attempt (which you can see here) I had a styrofoam block inside my hurricane glasses to fill up some of the extra space.
The first hurricane glass came out great. Everything was filled up really nicely and all of the gaps were filled in. Unfortunately, for the second glass, everything got jammed up with the styrofoam block. At first, all I could see was that the layers were uneven, but then a few days later, I realized it was because the little lentils hadn't fallen below the block and there was a huge gap at the bottom of the glass. Now, it took me a few days to notice, so it wasn't that big of a deal - but I noticed, and it was going to drive me crazy from now until Thanksgiving.
So, while AJ and I were watching TV, I took everything apart and re did them without the block.
I am much happier with the result now, because everything is nice and even! And the candles aren't popping out of the top as much. I was afraid to light them before, because the flame would have been above the edge of the glass. Now it is safely ensconced and I won't get accidentally burned during dinner!

You did a great job with these, Katie! :)
I am so doing these! Lentils, or candy corn? That is the question...or do I go totally whacko and do a combo of all of the above? Stay tuned!
Very pretty! I like the second attempt too! You are all set for fall! They must look nice when the candle is lit!
I loved how you showed that not everything works as we want it to on the first try sometimes, that's so important to know others go through the same frustrations as ourselves! Thank you for sharing that:) And thank you for sharing your wonderful Fall decor with us, I'm also loving your wine cork display too! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
I loved them before and I love them again :) Such a great fall decor idea.
These are great, but then again I thought the first ones were great.
But it would have driven me crazy once I had noticed them and I would have had to fix them as well.
Very cool! We are definitely feeling fall in the air here so these decorations are perfect!
Isn't it fun decorating with dried beans (are lentils a bean?).
Thanks for sharing and joining in on the pinterest fun!
Hugs, Kay
