St. Lucia: Day 3 - Catamaran Boat Ride

Happy weekend eve everyone!

I'm so happy that its Thursday. And I'm giving a test in three of my classes today, which is awesome because it gives me some time to catch up on grading. I've been feeling a bit behind all year, what with the quick way that I started, and then going away, its been hard to catch up on everything! Test days are great, because I can catch up and plan while the kids are taking their exam!

On our middle day of vacation, we decided to go on a tour. To be honest, after getting to St. Lucia, we decided we didn't want to do the tour. We were having such a great time lounging by the pool, we didn't want to do an all day tour. We tried to cancel, but it was too late so we were forced to go.

And I am so glad we did! It turned out to be one of the best things we did all vacation! *Warning, this is super picture heavy. I took 200 pictures that day!

The smallest fishing village in all of St. Lucia.

The Piton Mountains. Because it was slightly rainy that day, the mountains were shrouded in this crazy fog that made them look all mysterious.

Chilling out on the boat...before we got sunburned!

Tons of dolphins came up to our boat. Seriously, there must have been over two dozen! I have a video, but it needs to be edited because it was so bright then, I had trouble seeing what I was filming!

The waterfall they used in "Romancing the Stone". We can ignore what the rainy and windy catamaran ride did to my make up!

The pretty mountain top where we ate lunch. I am not an adventurous eater, and I don' eat seafood or spicy stuff (I tried something super spicy on our first night...I thought my mouth was going to be burnt off!) I was very happy to see macaroni and cheese on the traditional West Indian buffet!

The Caribbean's only drive in volcano. Instead of the traditional cone volcano, this volcano is a crater. Again, ignoring the make up situation!

We drank coconut milk straight from a coconut!

And we went snorkeling! This was my favorite part of the trip! I really want to go snorkeling again. I loved seeing all of the fishies!

AJ was doing a beer contest (they had to drink two little plastic cups of beer). They requested someone from New York or New Jersey, so he went up. We didn't realize that part of the beer dancing contest required dancing behind your "wife". I tried to say I wasn't his wife so I didn't have to dance with him (just teasing him of course!), but I danced anyway!

Then I did the girls' contest. We just had to drink one beer through a straw (huh?!). This is my "What did you get me into?!" look.

This is Marigot Bay. My photos were slightly over exposed, but we were running late getting back, so they whipped us through here!

 Our catamaran ride was over.

And we got back to the resort just as the sun was starting to get low in the sky.

So AJ made me a fruity drink and we got ready for dinner!

Does anyone have tomorrow off? In New York, schools were always closed on the Friday before Memorial Day (it was one of the snow day make ups, along with two on spring break, but we almost never got far enough to have to go in on that Friday!) I just assumed we had it off in Illinois, but we don't! Oops, good thing I double checked that! So its off to work I go tomorrow :)

When we were in Mexico a few years ago we took an all day Tequila tour and it was AWFUL! Ha! I'm so glad your tour was fun and you enjoyed it so much!!! The picture of AJ drinking out of the coconut is hilarious! We don't have tomorrow off, and never have, but school has been out since last Wednesday... I'm so looking forward to this three day weekend!

Love looking at your pictures, wondering how you two did on the beer drinking contests ;) The dolphins had to be awesome! Per your comment on my blog about Pinterest, you can back link a project if you want to join in, it doesn't have to be newly created! :) waving hi from the hills of North Carolina!
