Project Life 2015 {January}

Hi!

How has your summer been? I took a mini break from most social media stuff (except a few instagrams, because I just love pictures so much!), it was kind of nice to step away for a little bit. And as a result, this summer I ended up almost never being on the computer.

You really would have thought that I would have gotten more things done around here with more free time, but I really really didn't. Would you believe we still aren't fully unpacked? There are a few boxes left in our storage room that have to be looked at, but most of them are full of not essential things (non maternity clothes, fine china...)

Fortunately, I found my scrapbook stuff, or most of it. There are still a few albums that are packed up, but I found my 2015 Project Life album!

But I am really behind on it because its been packed up for so long! My album is only completed through March, but I did just order all of the pictures through July, so I should be able to catch up soon - I hope!

{Week 1}

{Week 2}

{Week 3}

{Week 4}

{Week 5}

It was fun to go back and look at these layouts. Its been so long since I've opened this album, and so much has changed since January - back then we were living in Albany, looking at homes up there and just hoping that we'd have a baby on the way soon. And now we are in Chicago, back in an apartment, and best of all, expecting our first child in November!

Its still crazy to me how quickly things changed this year!

snap.scrap.share {June 2014}

Happy Monday!

Last Thursday, Julie and I shared a few layouts using one of my favorite lines - Bella Blvd's Engaged at Last.

If you remember a few weeks months ago, I made this layout about AJ's bachelor party. But there was a problem with it...I didn't have the picture I actually wanted!

See how I ended up remedying that over a Julie's!

I'll be back here tomorrow with another layout about a recent trip I took. See you then!

Bachelor Party {Mini Album}

Happy Tuesday!

I am so glad that I finally found some time to scrapbook this week and I was able to finish up this mini album that I started way back in February!

Last summer, I made two mini albums with the Bella Blvd. Engaged at Last line - one for my shower and one for my bachelorette party. So I wanted to make a matching one for AJ's bachelor party. But AJ's bachelor party was a lot closer to the wedding than mine, so it took a long time for this album to get put together.

I left a blank journaling square to fill in where they ate, what they did, etc. But I have to get the information from AJ, and I keep forgetting to ask him! That's what happens when I scrap when he isn't home.

Do you ever create matching albums or mini albums for events? I can't think of too many things were I'd be able to do this, but I loved doing it for our bachelor/bachelorette parties!

Wedding License {Scrapbook Layout}

Hi everyone!

It seems I took an unintended blogging break last week.

I was on Spring Break and my parents came to visit. We went to Mississippi, shopped, ate and spent lots of time outside.

But now they are back in New York, and I'm back at school, and getting back to blogging!

This layout, featuring lots and lots of Bella Blvd papers + a Project Life Wedding Mini kit card, is about a very very crazy day in New York.

Because AJ and I were getting married back home, but very very far away from where we were living, we had to pack a lot of things into short trips. On this particular day, we had to get our marriage license, have our final meeting with our wedding venue and meet with the priest preforming our wedding ceremony. All before Labor Day weekend started!

I think the journaling explains the hectic day really well :)

"August 30, 2013 was a crazy day. It would be our last chance to do any in person meetings before wedding week! We started off the day by getting lost on our way to the Nassau County Clerks Office to get our marriage license. Once we found it though, everything wen smoothly! Then we headed to Dunkin Donuts for a quick bite to eat. There people there thought it was our wedding day because of our clothes - white lace dress (me) + suit (AJ. We are + drove up to Stewart Manor Country Club to meet with June and Mom. We made our final menu choices (including a quesadilla station for cocktail hour + a pie bar for dessert!), chose our cake (chocolate w/ white chocolate mousse filling) and picked our table linens (napkins that exactly match our bridesmaids dresses - yes please!). Unfortunately, the meeting ran late. We had to leave Mom to finalize the table set up so we could go to St. Rose. We were super late due to traffic on the Southern State. I think Fr. Ken was mad, but he warmed up to us. We went through our ceremony choices, then headed home to go out east."

Fortunately, we got everything done, and had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Which is more than I can say for this week. We had a wonderful time, but I definitely didn't get everything done!

How was your Easter or spring break? What did you do?

Shower Flowers {Scrapbook Layout}

Happy Tuesday!

This was a crazy, but fun, weekend. One of my closest friends was married in California! I loved seeing our friends, meeting her family and celebrating her and her new husband.

And in addition to all that fabulousness, it was the first time I'd ever been to the West Coast so I got to see the Pacific Ocean for the first time (that is a layout waiting to happen!)

Unfortunately, AJ couldn't attend the wedding because of work. During a two week span every year called "turnaround" he has to work every day - even weekends! - and he cannot take any days off. Of course, the wedding fell during those two weeks! He was really upset to have missed the wedding, and we definitely missed him there. But in a silver lining - I was super proud of myself for traveling to all the way to Orange County on my own!

Speaking of things AJ couldn't attend, I still have one layout from my bridal shower that I haven't shared (the others are here, here and here!)

I'm not sure why, but it was very important to me that AJ have flowers delivered to my bridal shower. I was so excited when he did, so they got their very own layout!

Just like I did for all of the other layouts, I used the Bella Blvd Engaged at Last line, but I also added in some Project Life cards from the Clementine kit for a little color. They matched the card from the florist so well that I couldn't help but add them!

Were there any little things that you really wanted at your bridal shower, like my flowers? Did you get them?

Bachelor Party {Scrapbook Layout}

Happy Tuesday!

How was your weekend?

Ours was pretty boring, AJ has been busy at work and had to work all weekend!

Fortunately, I was able to use the time to get some scrapping done :)

One layout that I've been wanting to work on is AJ's bachelor party. I had made a layout about my bachelorette party and wanted to make a "matching" one for his bachelor party.

I was really excited to be working with the Bella Blvd Engaged at Last line again. It is just so fun, and I love the little journaling cards that came with the bachelor party papers!

The problem I kept running into with this layout was that I didn't have a picture of all of the guys at the bachelor party. I knew there was one, but I couldn't find it anywhere. And I kind of remembered that we didn't know where it was, and maybe one of the other guys had taken it and maybe we hadn't gotten it. I wasn't sure, but either way, I couldn't find it, so I figured I didn't have it.

Except after I was totally done with the layout, AJ found and sent me the picture! So I'm going to use it for the little mini book I was going to make (just like the shower mini book and bachelorette mini book) I'm just glad to finally have the picture!

Did you ever scrap something then find the picture you really wanted afterwards?

Bachelorette Party {Scrapbook Layout}

Happy Tuesday!

This weekend AJ had his bachelor party. They went to New Orleans and went fished and ate and drank way too much!

Fortunately, he knows who he is marrying, so he took lots of pictures for me to turn into a scrapbook page :)

Of course, I don't have them yet, as most of them are on his friends' phones!

But, I do have the pictures from my bachelorette party. I used the Bella Blvd Engaged at Last line again...and I'm hoping to use the matching bachelor party paper to do a matching page for AJ's party...if he would just get those pictures!

The only thing I asked for was a bride sash. I love them and I so wanted to wear one (and wear it I did - I wore it from the minute I woke up until the minute I went to bed!) So of course, it had to be in my scrapbook!

This is my favorite picture from that weekend. So of course, it had to have its whole own page!

I am so excited about this layout. And I can't wait to make the matching one for AJ :)

And of course, there were a million more pictures, so there will definitely be a mini book going on too! I'll share that on Thursday.

Do you ever make "matching" layouts?

Wedding Shower {Mini Album}

Happy Weekend Eve!

This is such an exciting weekend around here.

Today is September 5 - just one month to the wedding. We can start the 30 day countdown!

Tonight, AJ is leaving for his bachelor party! (I can say this here because he doesn't read my blog...let's hope he doesn't start today!)

Tomorrow, I'll be flying to Dallas to see Julie!

Wow! What a fun and exciting weekend! I can't wait for it to start :)

But before we do that, I have a mini album to share! Last night, I was finally able to finish my wedding shower mini album!

I found these directions for a mini album using just one 12x12 page, and decided to make one about my shower, using my new favorite Bella Blvd collection - Engaged at Last!

I am so happy with this mini album. Even though I made other bridal shower layouts, this one allowed me to fit in some of my favorite photos all in one place!

I'll definitely be making another one of these for the bachelorette party!

Do you like to create mini albums for special events?

Ribbon Bouquet {Scrapbook Layout}

Yay! Its finally Wednesday!

And this Wednesday is sort of like my weekend eve, since I won't be at school on Friday. So just 12 more classes and I can leave for the weekend!

This weekend will be jam packed with more wedding things. Getting our marriage license, meeting with our officiant, meeting with the venue, possibly skyping with the DJ...lots of things!

And I still have to pack and bake granola bars and slutty brownies before heading home. And tonight is Meet the Teacher night at school.

So I obviously spent a large part of last night scrapping. Priorities, right?

Even though I should have been doing other things, I had a great time making this layout. It was the first time in a long time that I actually sat down at my desk and created something. Plus, I got to break out my new Bella Blvd papers that I've been waiting and waiting to use!

And I was so excited to scrap this picture. I love my ribbon bouquet (you know, instead of the hat, because I've got curly hair, and hats and I don't get along!) and I just wanted to show it off :) And of course, I'll use it during my rehearsal at the church, as practice for my actual bouquet!

So, I'm not sure if this is a thing anywhere else, but in my family, you aren't supposed to use scissors to cut the ribbons that are on your shower gifts. Of course, there were tons of ribbons on the presents! But I had a great time trying open them without scissors!

Did you have any superstitions at your wedding shower?

Thanksgiving Mini Album {Job + Health + Faith} and Third Thursday Scrapbook Stories {11.15.2012}

Happy weekend eve everyone!

This has been the longest week ever! Is it Friday yet?!

I have lots of things to share with you today...

First, I'm over at A Beautiful Day sharing the rest of the layout that goes with this photo...

Hahaha,don't worry too much...AJ knows that I'm sharing this picture with you guys! He even helped me think of funny things for him to be saying here!

And if you head over there, be sure to stop by Julie's awesome giveaway!

I also have the next two pages of my Thanksgiving scrapbook album :)

Did you ever think a day was Friday, and it wasn't? That's the mistake I made yesterday. And Tuesday. And today.

But tomorrow is Friday, and I'll be back with Project Life Week 23!

Wedding Trivia Layout

Yesterday, I was feeling sad that my entire family was back on the east coast and I'm living in Chicago. I usually love big storms, I find them really interesting. Even as a kid, if a storm was coming, I was glued to the Weather Channel (probably an early sign of me becoming a science teacher...)

But, yesterday's post was written when I was under the impression that Sandy would be more like all of the other hurricanes they predict...a whole lot of talk for a whole lot of rain!

Yesterday, I spoke with my parents, and my dad - aka the man who took my brother and I, both under the age of 10, outside in the middle of the blizzard of 1996, just so we could say we were out in the blizzard - said the storm was scary and out of control. Once I heard that, I knew I was lucky to be here in Chicago, where our biggest issue so far has been people surfing on Lake Michigan (not so much an issue as just really weird to me!)

If you are in any of the areas affected by Sandy, I hope that you and your family and friends are safe. We are praying for you here...

AJ and I were talking about what would we do if we were out of power. I figured I could scrapbook if it was light out. And I know my parents were playing a lot of cards. As a kid, I loved to play Brain Quest trivia whenever we were in the car, waiting around for the doctor a table at a restaurant or without electricity.

So I thought it would be fun to share a trivia layout today. While at Pre Cana, we played a trivia game. AJ and I not only won - but we got the highest score the priest had ever seen! So I decided for our engagement book, it would be fun to have a layout featuring some of the trivia questions.
This is a 12x12 page protector that is divided up into 9 boxes (I think from We R Memory Keepers...) Each of these squares pulls out of the layout using the blue diamond tabs and the answers are underneath (of course, I forgot to take a picture of that! I'll fix that later today!) All of the papers and stickers are from the wedding papers that Heather sent me.

Questions (the answers are below, in case you want to play along)
Top Row:
1. Who wrote "Here Comes the Bride"? What genre of music does it fall in? What is the name of its origin?
2. The tradition of breaking glass in a Jewish wedding is a symbol of what?
3. Which princess began the tradition of using Mendelssohn "Wedding March"?

Middle Row:
4. Where is the largest bridal salon in the world? Bonus: What is its name?
5. According to Greek tradition, what wedding related expense does the best man pay for?
6. Why does the bride traditionally stand on the groom's left side?

Bottom Row:
7. What wedding reception staple was inspired by the steeple of St. Bride's Church in London?
8. On what find did the Romans wear their wedding rings?
9. Which couple holds the record for answering the most correct trivia questions at One in Christ pre-cana? (as of September 2012)

Answers

Top Row:
1. Wagner, Opera, Lohengrin
2. The destruction of the temples in Jerusalem (this answer is a bit controversial - I've also heard that it is to symbolize that the marriage will last forever, but this is the answer the priest was looking for)
3. Princess Victoria

Middle Row:
4. New York City, Kleinfeld's
5. Liquor
6. The groom would carry his sword on his right, and would use it to protect his bride from potential attackers

Bottom Row:
7. Tiered wedding cake
8. Thumb
9. Katie and AJ

I hope you liked the trivia questions!

What is your favorite way to keep busy when the power is out?

Bridesmaids Dress Shopping

Happy Weekend Eve everyone! I am so excited that it is Thursday. This has been another long week, and I'm very much looking forward to the weekend :)

While I was home in July, I also went bridesmaids dress shopping. Of course, I had to include this in my pre-wedding/engagement album too!

I had a great time shopping. Although my hair is a mess in all of these pictures because I'd been trying on veils before! Also, only one of my maid of honor was with me, so I modeled the bridesmaids dress while she modeled the maid of honor dress! (Oh yeah, and I blotted out her face because I forgot to ask her if I could use her picture on here, and its way to late to call her now - especially with the time difference!)

Journaling:
After we finalized the purchase of my wedding gown, Mom, Dad, Liz and I looked for bridesmaids dresses.
Originally I'd wanted the girls to wear short dresses, but I ended up preferring gowns (after Liz and Mom encouraged me to look at them!)
I really wanted Liz's dress to be special as maid of honor, but AJ didn't like the idea of using a different color. So, we picked a different (but similar) dress for Liz. I think all of the girls will look beautiful in their dresses!
The only issue for me was color. I'd chosen a deep green, but had second thoughts. The green w/ the oranges in the flowers reminded me of St. Patrick's Day! Mom and I went back a few days later and chose "spice" instead. I love it!

I had so much fun dressing up in all the pretty gowns that day! I wish I had an excuse to wear a gown for Halloween, they are just so fun! Are you dressing up this year? Do you have a costume picked out yet? I can't believe Halloween next week!

Wedding Ring Layout

How was your weekend?

Ours was pretty low key. Friday night we started our wedding registry. We went to a Macy's Sip and Scan event. It was pretty nice, they definitely made us feel special with hors d'oeuvres and a special bag with lots of information, waters, candies and even a little shaving kit for AJ! Of course, there will be more details to come - just as soon as I can scrap the event!

The rest of the weekend was very quiet. I went to sleep at 7:30 Saturday night, and still needed a nap after church on Sunday! I hope I'm not getting sick. But, I found time to scrap around all of that sleeping, and I got lots of pages done! I can't wait to share them over the next few weeks (yes - I said WEEKS! It was that many!)

One of the first ones I did was about our wedding ring shopping day, for the scrapbook I'm doing about all the engagement/pre-wedding stuff!

This awesome pink paper and the stickers were both from a surprise package from Heather! Wasn't that sweet of her? I love how the pink looks with the silver and black in the pictures!

I still can't believe that it is Monday morning! How did that happen?! Well, it probably happened because I was asleep for most of it, but still... Did your weekend fly by too?

Engagement Photo Layout

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July!

I am doing a scrapbook about our engagement. I have a page about how we got engaged, am working on one about our venue, and just finished some pages showcasing our engagement photos (Are you getting sick of me talking about these yet?! I promise its the last time they show up for a while, probably until I make the guest book for the wedding!)

I really love how quickly this all came together with the divided pages. All I really did was cut some patterned paper to fill in the blank spots, but I left it like that. I really wanted the pictures to shine and I love these patterns, so I didn't want to mess with them too much!

What did you do to celebrate the Fourth of July?

We went to a barbeque Tuesday night, but Wednesday, we just stayed home and relaxed. It was 103 degrees here yesterday, so we stayed inside - except when I had to run to Best Buy to get an external hard drive. My computer keeps making these scary noises, so I wanted to make sure I backed up everything in case it crashes!  I also learned that Fourth of July is a great day to do laundry. There was no one in the laundry room at all! I got 6 loads done :)

Well I'm off to fold some laundry, see you all tomorrow!

Recap and an Engagement Layout

Hi everyone!

Wow, did things get a little insane around here! I'll give you a little recap of my week :) Don't worry, there are pictures after all this blah blah blah, so you can skip this if you'd like!

Wednesday - I have been going to yoga, but Wednesday, I ended up having not one but two bad asthma attacks at yoga! I had to leave the class early, and when I got home, I was so shaken up and freaked out that I haven't gone back since!

Thursday - aka. the last day before spring break! I had quite the adventurous trip to the airport. I got on a train to take me up there, and within minutes of getting on, there was an emergency, and our conductor had to leave the train! I jumped off the train, ran upstairs finally hailed a cab and rushed off to the airport! I made it just in time :)

Friday - BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN TIME! I had flown home to see Springsteen play at Madison Square Garden with my family. Yay! As always, he played a great show, although when I saw Monday's set list, I was jealous! I wanted to hear Rosie too!

Saturday - We booked a wedding photographer - more on that later :)

Sunday - Flew home to Chicago at 6am, showered, went to church with AJ, and then had a very relaxing Easter of dying eggs (more on that later too!) and watching the Masters. On a side note - AJ mentioned that he thought he got a bug bite in his ear, because inside his ear was bleeding when he woke up.

Monday - Monday was supposed to be my blogging catch up day, but then AJ woke up and was bleeding out of his ear again! Everything got thrown out of the window as we ran around trying to find him a doctor in Chicago who could see him that day! Fortunately, it was nothing, all the important parts of his ear are fine, they think he maybe just cut it with a q-tip!

Tuesday - um, I was just super lazy...and feeling guilty because I hadn't blogged in a week! So I watched trashy TV and listened to wedding music for the ceremony!

Wednesday - that's today! I'm blogging :)

So, since I either a. bored you with that recap or b. you skipped over it and stopped by here, I figured I'd show you a layout I did recently!

I decided to start a scrapbook with all of the important milestones before the wedding (engagement, shower, bachelorette, all that stuff!)

I love the "engagement" page, and since the engagement came first, I thought I'd share this page first with you all!

It was a very gray day outside when we got engaged, but I knew I wanted to add lots and lots of color to the scrapbook page, since that's what the day felt like! I saw this really cute chevron in Scrapbooks, Etc. and decided I had to include it for the main part of the page!

AJ and I each wrote out the story of our engagement on these planner inserts from Staples. I have to say, his is much more eloquent than mine! It was nice to read about the whole story from his side, the thinking about proposing, looking at rings, planning the proposal, asking my dad part. My side it was just about when he actually proposed, because I wasn't part of all the "getting ready" pieces!

 I love this little tag!

 Next to this colorful page, I included a bunch of the pictures I took on our "picture walk" that day.

I had tons of them, so they took up two pages!

Did you make your own pre-wedding or wedding album, or are you planning to?
